At 06.10 on Thursday 9th Feb. two BEEP Fund Doctors from Penrith attended a serious RTC on the A66 just East of Penrith, involving a van & an HGV which had collided at high speed head-on. The driver of the van suffered very serious life-threatening injuries & was trapped for about an hour before being extricated by the Fire & Rescue Service. The BEEP Fund Doctors with the assistance of the NWAS paramedics performed advanced life saving medical procedures at the roadside before transporting him by land ambulance to Carlisle. He was later flown by the Pride of Cumbria Air Ambulance to the RVI in Newcastle
